Skip was raised on the Chesapeake Bay spending time building and restoring boats, fishing, crabbing, and oystering. He graduated from the Landing Boat school in Maine and although Skip has a wooden boat soul, his experience includes all types of boats and many different types of contruction. The following pictures are of work Skip has done over the years and show the quality of work an owner can expect from him.

Formally known as EL PRESIDENTE, Skip helped to transform INNISFAIL back to original condition first by remaking the wheel house, then restoring the main saloon, and also with an intricate stair rail leading to the owner's cabin. This little pram Skip designed and built works as a great tender. I have pictures of her with three big guys in her and she still showed plenty of freeboard, enough for lots of stores. She is a good row, too.

This hardtop Skip built weighed in at 50 lbs, less than the canvas it replaced. After several years, the owner had Skip build another out of carbon fiber which weighed less than 40 lbs. Both included rain catchers and a skylight.

Skip did extensive work on LABELLA MIA, I only got pictures of this compass rose.

If you are a member of the family you get to enjoy Skip's work in other ways. Tim and I both got chests, his is oak with mahogany inlay and a secret compartment, mine is aromatic cedar with a schooner inlay. The finish on mine is 30 coats of tounge oil.

This is the largest of three tables built for the schooner MARY NORMA. To the right of the photo, you can see the smallest of the three. They were made from ash and purple heart.

Skip and Eric Kemp built this 30 foot Hurricanne Island Pulling Boat for Outward Bound. It offers camping type accomodates for up to 14 people for two weeks.
